When is Daylight Savings? →
I was amazed that when I searched for daylight savings last week that some pretty random sites came up. So I had the “stupid simple” idea to create a basic site for those wondering when to set their clocks back or forward, in the vein of whatismyip.com. So while it might not be of much use this time, hopefully it will help in six months. http://www.whenisdaylightsavings.org

Apple sells 6.9 million iPhones in three months →
I heard this news on Twitter while I was in Berlin, but the details are a bit staggering. Apple sold 6,892,000 iPhones in its first quarter of availability, up 615% over this same time last year. Apple sold “more phones than RIM” this quarter. Apple is now the 3rd largest mobile phone supplier (in quarterly sales) in the world, behind Nokia and Samsung. Apple has sold 200 million...

1990
It occurs to me, sitting here in a hotel on the Friedrichstraße in Berlin, Germany, that if you were born in 1990 you would have never known a world with the Berlin wall… except of course in history books. I find it interesting that the same generation that doesn’t know the world before the Internet, also doesn’t know a world with the Cold War. As a child I remember thinking...

Chuck Todd explains how the electoral votes of battleground states will be the deciding factor using a Microsoft Surface table. While an obvious plug for Microsoft technology, mentioning it by name at least twice, it is a really good example of two things: Touch is a great way to visualize information, Chuck is able to quickly show hypothetical scenarios that are normally very difficult to...

Sorry, Dad, I'm Voting for Obama →
Christopher Buckley, son of William F. Buckley—founder of the conservative National Review—endorses Obama. Obama has in him—I think, despite his sometimes airy-fairy “We are the people we have been waiting for” silly rhetoric—the potential to be a good, perhaps even great leader. He is, it seems clear enough, what the historical moment seems to be calling for. I love this article, not...

Who says the Deck is dead? →
Further reports that developers are making record profits from the Apple App Store, but only as long as the app is featured on the App Store deck. Once sales start to decline so do the profits quickly. Unfortunately due to how easy it is to create an app and get it to market, this will likely mean more garbage apps added to the App Store for the sole purposes of short term gains. Third-party...

Amazon's Kindle 2 Photos Leaked →
It looks like Amazon is trying a bit harder to compete with Sony with the updated Kindle. While Amazon said there would be no new Kindle this year, I doubt they will be able to hold back an update from the holiday buying season. Lets hope they offer some sort of early adopter credit.
